Shawn Shelnutt breathes humor into the mundane as well as the tragic and everything between. He recounts parts of his life in a masterfully comedic and personal way. The audience feels engaged as if they are connected intimately with the stories as though they were there. The giant ginger’s facial expressions and mannerisms keep things light-hearted and the audience attentive when otherwise they may not be.
Shawn continues to write and perform sketch, improv, and stand-up comedy, since 2011. In 2013 he got his first full weekend work as an emcee at Comedy Café Milwaukee. He has since branched out and performed as a feature act in several states since 2015. In 2014, Shawn obtained a role in a recurring comedy act at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. In the Summer’s hottest weekends, you can find him there honing his heckler handling skills as part of the Vegetable Justice team.
Most recently Shawn performed at Summerfest, the world’s largest music festival, on the comedy stage, in July (of 2016). Shawn continues to tour across the country bringing his unique stories and jokes to audiences wherever he can.
Shawn Shelnutt draws on material from (including but not limited to): his time in the military, living in Iraq in 2003-2004, undergrad and graduate school, mental illness, working with children, being awkward, the stupidity he hears, and imaginary scenarios that most would not likely think of.
